Not sure what language your child should pick?

salve Reader!

Parents often come to me with questions about the best language GCSE for their child:

  • Is it enough to take just one language, modern or ancient?
  • What combination of languages works best?
  • Is it too difficult to get a 9 in any of the language GCSEs?
  • How does the language you choose affect your chances for a Russell Group university, or for a course in particular?
  • And what happens if you do not take any languages at all?

Having celebrated outstanding GCSE results just a couple of days ago, something became clear after seeing the success of my students:

The best language for GCSE is the one where enjoyment will lead to exam success.

This year, I have teamed up with another language expert, Dita Moothialoo, to help you answer all these questions and also give you the latest information on exam boards.

If you want to navigate the system with clarity and give your child the best start, join us on Sunday, September 7th, at 7 pm.

This webinar is for you if:

  • You have a student who has not started GCSE yet
  • Your student is currently taking a language (modern or ancient) for GCSE
  • Your child wants to have freedom when it comes to choosing a university and a degree

Not sure if it is for you? Just reply to this email and let me know.

salve Reader! First things first: results are coming. I will be available for consultation all day on the 14th and 21st, and will be offering advice and support around those dates if needed, as well as celebrating before we all have a well-deserved rest in preparation for the new school year. But before I disconnect for my holiday (yes, even Latin teachers must rest, even if said rest includes archaeological sites!), I wanted to share with you some exciting news: I have been invited to be...

July Newsletter salve Reader, As I went on to write this newsletter, I realised there has been quite a gap since the last one. Oooops! Or, as the Romans would say: eheu! No excuse, but it has been far from quiet here: dedicated students kept me on my feet, and the work we have done together will shape my offerings for the summer and beyond. And you may have noticed a change in colours... and even the logo! But that's not all. My new website will be better and more organised for sharing...

salve! I am often asked questions like "Why is Latin still being taught?" or "What is Latin for?" This is no wonder. In the past, plenty of people were taught Latin as if it were a game of Sudoku: here is a puzzle, here are some rules and off you go: figure it out. Indeed, why would one want to engage in that?! Languages are tools for communication, and people communicate through conversation and storytelling. Although some may love the challenge of solving puzzles, solving puzzles is often...
