It is officially less than 2 months until the first exam!

salve Reader,

Yes, you heard it right: the first GCSE exam is the GCSE Latin Language Paper on May 8, with the Latin A-Level language taking place on May 19 (ok, you get 10 extra days added to the 2 months there!).

I am currently concentrating on my existing students and will begin to invite those on the waiting list from May. However, if you need a hand, there are still ways to get my help:

  1. Membership to my Latin GCSE Revision Course is now open, and I have made it possible to join for just the months you need it. If you join now, you will get at least 2 live sessions before the exam, plus all the activities and direct access to me via the comment section for any doubts you have.
  2. For those in A-Level who need structured support with their revision, I am currently working on a monthly membership option. Please reply to this email if you would like to hear more about it, as the first cohort will be by invitation only.
  3. Get in touch: I have been very busy writing and revamping the courses, but from next week, my YouTube channel will be active again with monthly videos. What would you like to see there?

in proximum!

Anyway, we are not going to war (at least not literally, hopefully), but I also enjoy the renewal that comes with the first signs of spring. A bit more on that...

salve Reader, What a week! Languages are very much like Schrödinger's cat: scroll through social media and one minute they are a useless subject superseded by AI, the next they are all people want to talk about. A couple of days ago, I wrote on social media (see below) about the relationship between Welsh and Latin (both are Indo-European languages), and since then, I've been dealing with a barrage of irate comments. People get very angry when they think their linguistic beliefs are being...

salve Reader! Very sorry to mention the H word. Surely half-term break is for resting? Please do not worry: I am not going to send you a vocabulary list to learn! What I am going to do is leave below some events and ideas for you to browse and put in your diary. Those in Y12 are not too pressed for prep at the moment, so now is the time to start working on their university choice. The good news is that it can be most interesting to learn about the different courses and subjects, and what...
